Item - PT8-65
This 1964/1965 Premier Twin 8 amplifier is in good physical condition for a 50 year old amplifier and it sounds absolutely fantastic. As you can see in the pictures, the amplifier is in good condition except that the wood is showing on some of the corners through the thin wood grain covering.  The original knobs were missing and have been replaced with knobs which are era appropriate and fit the panel design well.  The original handle has also been replaced with a leather strap. The amplifier is in perfect working condition with the original vintage 8” speakers in good condition and a great set of vintage tubes. The eletronic components are all in excellent condition and only a few of the old capacitors required replacement. The coupling capacitors have all been upgraded to harp friendly values to provide more bottom end and additional capacitance has been added to the power supply to bring the voltages back up to the original levels. The amplifier sounds absolutely fantastic with tons of bottom end and a beautiful breakup this is one of the best sounding Harp Amps available. The amp measure 18 1/2” x 15” x 8 1/2” and it weighs just over 17 pounds. The original covering is in good condition for it's age and a new Premier Logo Plaque has been added on the front of the amp to replace the original missing logo. The gold colored control panel is in good condition for it's age but does have a some wear. All of the controls all work perfectly with no scratchy noises or other anomalies. The Serial Number (440271) is stamped on the control panel. All 3 inputs are in perfect working condition also. The tube lineup is 2 – 12AX7 tubes and a 6L6 Power Tube. A 6V6 Power Tube can also be used in this amplifier with no circuit changes for a slightly different tone and one is included with the amplifier. The amplifier was originally tubed for a 7591 Power Tube but an additional socket has been installed in the chassis for the 6L6/6V6 tubes. If you prefer to use a 7591 or 7591A, simply remove the 6L6 or 6V6 tube and install the 7591(A) tube in the other socket (marked plainly on chassis). Since this is one of the later model Twin-8 amplifiers, it employs a pair of diodes for power rectification. This is truly a piece of Blues History and any harp player should be ecstatic to have it in their amp collection.
